Performance Art: The Balloon Walk

Image
For my performance art Eric, Kamryn and I walked around campus handing out balloons to people we did not know.  Most people seemed confused as to why we were handing them a balloon but seemed pleased after accepting it.  It seemed to have brighten each person's day and to those we didn't give balloons to, they looked at us very confused as well especially when the balloons were hitting me in the face because of the wind. I really enjoyed this project it was a lot of fun! Three favorite performance artists: Adrian Piper Joan Jonas Martha Wilson What do they have in common?  Each of these female performance artists shared their views, ideas, and art through the way they dressed or portrayed their body parts.  I find this interesting that they can use only costumes, body movements, and even mirrors reflecting parts of their body to perform their views and it be understood.  Is technology an essential component in their work?  Adrian Piper used techn

Final Video

I decided to create a movie trailer for a horror film. The killing is about a man, his wife, and their baby, Connor, who recently moved to the neighborhood in a house that was struggling  to sell for years until the family decided to buy it.  After about a month of living there, the couple began to realize strange things were happening around the house, including their son speaking to an imaginary friend named Ryan.  The house that the family moved into was known to be haunted by a guy and his sister who passed away in the house 20 years ago.  Although this was kinda of difficult for me to create, I think it turned out well. I used small portions of youtube videos to create the trailer and put my own audio and sound effects onto the video. The hardest part for me was matching up the sound effects with the objects moving, etc.  However, overall this was fun to make but had me very scared to go to sleep every night because of the amount of ghost footage I had to watch to find

Music B5

Dubstep : Excision I chose this artist because I do listen to him quite frequently and I believe that he uses a large amount of base and high amounts of technology to create his music using electronics. He uses a lot of technology and electronics through the use of this DJ board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbNIKR2pctU Girl Power : BeyoncĂ© I chose this artist because I also listen to her very often seeing she is a very empowering woman, which makes me feel proud to be a woman. She uses many different types of technology to create the beats she sings powerful songs over.   Her music videos also use a lot of technology and electronics to create the idea she is trying to sing about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmMU_iwe6U Electronic : Zedd, Diplo I chose both of these artists because they are two of my top favorite artists and have been for many years.   Their type of music explains on it’s own how they use technology and electronics.   Just by

X2: ASCII Art

Image
ASCII art consists of a table of numbers and corresponding symbols.   However, ASCII uses letters, numbers, and control codes as well, but there are no graphics whatsoever used within ASCII artworks.   I find this to be very interesting seeing now you can do just about anything with graphic art on a computer.          I observed an ASCII work of art that was in the shape of a dog’s head, showing only ¾ of the dogs face with the tongue out.   It is interesting to me that just using letters and symbols on a keyboard can create such a lovely form of art.   However, I realized when you really take a look at the artwork, you do not see the details, but when you take a step back and don’t focus too much on one part of the dog head, you can see the eyes and the whites of the eyes as well as the glistening of the tongue and all.           I personally find ASCII art to be beautifully complex, yet so simple.  How just a couple of mixtures of letters and symbols can create such
