Stage Door

Although I have not been to many Broadway shows, my grandparents were actors and I have always had some type of appreciation for Broadway and acting. After watching the Broadway videos on the Angel Stage Door blog, I appreciate Broadway even more now then I have before.  The voices of every singer were so beautiful and graceful, which made them very easy to listen to. I’ve realized they do not need to have much going on in the background to put on a good show if they have a good voice.

Even though they put on a good show, I found that the ones with people just singing with nothing else going on in the background was very boring to me. For example, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” videos were boring to me because the videos were just someone on stage singing with nothing else happening. However, the videos that had lots of dancing and fun things going on were more entertaining to me and kept me watching (Meet Me in St. Louis). I also liked the MAME commercial because there were a lot of fun things going on such as the person riding on top of something hanging from the ceiling.

My favorite video on the blog was the “cast of Hair on Late Night with David Letterman”.  I loved this video not only because they had really great outfits on, but the voices were amazing and there was a lot of different things happening that grabbed and kept my attention. I also really enjoyed “Liza Minnelli THE ACT” video because they had some glamorous suits on with matching hats along with the exciting dancing.  Overall, I thought all of the videos on the blog that involved dancing seemed to grab my attention the most and keep me entertained.

ASCII art consists of a table of numbers and corresponding symbols.   However, ASCII uses letters, numbers, and control codes as well, but there are no graphics whatsoever used within ASCII artworks.   I find this to be very interesting seeing now you can do just about anything with graphic art on a computer.          I observed an ASCII work of art that was in the shape of a dog’s head, showing only ¾ of the dogs face with the tongue out.   It is interesting to me that just using letters and symbols on a keyboard can create such a lovely form of art.   However, I realized when you really take a look at the artwork, you do not see the details, but when you take a step back and don’t focus too much on one part of the dog head, you can see the eyes and the whites of the eyes as well as the glistening of the tongue and all.           I personally find ASCII art to be beautifully complex, yet so simple....

Dubstep : Excision I chose this artist because I do listen to him quite frequently and I believe that he uses a large amount of base and high amounts of technology to create his music using electronics. 21 st Century Technology (A3) Although there are many technologies that have been created within the 21 st century, a very commonly used app around the world that was thought up in 2008 and was created in 2009 has been extremely popular lately, especially for college students.   This app is called Uber and with just a click of a button a driver is at your door in just a few short minutes to bring you to your destination. The previous technologies that could have influenced creation of Uber are taxis, GPS systems, and smartphones. Taxis were created in the late 1800’s to provide transportation for citizens in large cities.   The passenger waits on the side of the road and waves down a taxi driver to come pick them up.   After getting into the taxi, the passenger provides the driver with a destination and by the end of the trip the taxi driver has a total amount of how much the taxi ride costs.
